His mind was on fire. The words ignited a burning flame that spread over his brain like an inferno, setting his soul aflame with words blazing so hot that he could hardly handle them. All he knew was that word after word burned a pathway through his brain as his mind took up each image like the flame jumps up the story of a house. His whole mind was a house on fire with flames bursting out through windows long since shuttered and doorways firmly locked shut.
Instinctively, he sat still, uncertain of whether to drop and roll or run–but how could he outrun his own mind? Nothing–not even a cold shower–could rescind the fire in his mind. Now that he had partaken of the illustrious world of words, he was without ability to remove himself; they had become a part of who he now was.
The words came forth from his fingertips like bolts of lightning, lighting up his keyboard as he typed word after word with rapidity. The fire that ignited his brain was now igniting his keyboard and computer. The document was on fire, too.
He submitted the document to a writing contest, the award of which was some one thousand dollars. He didn’t care about the money, though; he simply wanted to set the world on fire.
