the copyright is necessary at the end of every poem
as a statement of being and being copyrighted by
the poet who spilled ink, blood, sweat, tears into
the poem now read. if there is no copyright, then
there is a chance that the poem will be free and
loose, which is not proper or becoming of a poem,
to fraternize and carouse with others or another
without the demarcation of a copyright, like some
grand wedding ring or bridal mark to declare the
infidelity of the whole affair. thus, we must apply
a copyright to every poem ever written because
to fail to do so is to fail to account for the relations
obtaining between poet and poem, which is one of
deep and abiding fecundity, requiring the fidelity
of concrete commitment like a copyright symbol.
