poem 20

Limelight shines bright—
Like a spotlight,
And it ignites
And up it lights
All of your blights.

Stare at the sun and be blinded—see,

You can’t see anything when you see

Through eyes of fire from the burning sun

That ignites up each and every one

Of the world’s seven point nine billion

People in its whole population.

The same as the fires up in heaven

Are the fires of hell and damnation,

Which melt the eyes till nothing is seen

And all that is left is all that has been,

Marred by the flames of the fires of hell

That torch everything till nothing’s left to tell

The story of what once used to be

But only the tale of what we now see:

Exulting in the glory of the bright sun

You find yourself to be the only one

Praising yourself and lifting you up

With words of honor putting you on top

But being on top only uncovers your shame

And lifting you up proclaims your name

As the fool that you have always been

Since you’ve always been hiding your sin

A hypocrite is what they call the fool that you are

For keeping under wraps what can’t ever go far

Cause the only fool being fooled is really yourself
