poem 6

Because one sole poem is never enough

To encapsulate the love that I hold

For you, bound up in my heart as the pulse,

Which pounds forth the pulse of the beat of life

For you, my love, my life, my e’erlasting,

I write you this verse.

Because you are precious and you are mine,

Because you are all of the world to me,

Because you are all bound up in my heart,

Because I have only you in my soul,

For you, my love, my life, my e’erlasting,

I write you this verse.

Because one sole poem is never enough

To declare the adoration possessed

For you by my ever-undulating

Heart, which at all times sings songs of delight

For you, my love, my life, my everlasting,

I write you this verse.

Because I cannot contain my love to

One singular poem or verse or sonnet,

Because you fill my heart and soul and all

My life with life to the fullest fullness,

Because I am enlivened by your presence,

I write you this verse.
