recording every con-

versation, hopped up 

on donuts and adrenaline.

Shoot the ray gun! cried

the captain after the covert op

had been uncovered,

botched by an overzealous

cop, too wired with coffee

to keep the wires under

wraps, as he had already

begun disco-dancing

in the club, wires

going every which way.

After that,

coffee was no longer

allowed,

and the department started using 

wireless.
